The Leonids Return: Light Across the Ages

Agents,

Every November, Earth passes through a trail of dust left behind by Comet Tempel-Tuttle. As each grain meets the atmosphere, it burns into a streak of light. These are the Leonids, named for the constellation Leo, the point in the sky where they appear to begin.

People have watched the Leonids for more than a thousand years. Astronomers recorded them. Travelers marked their journeys by them. Families stepped outside together to see them. Each meteor lasts only a moment, but the memories it leaves can last a lifetime. NIA records suggest that XM has risen with the Leonids for as long as people have watched them, and some researchers believe the shower stirs XM wherever people gather to look up.

This November, the NIA invites every Agent to step outside and add their own chapter to that story. Four Leonids Campaigns arrive in Dispatch in two waves: two on November 5, and two more on November 16, as the shower nears its peak.

Leonids: Through the Ages

Ancient stone stands for centuries. A meteor crosses the sky in a single heartbeat. This Campaign brings the two together in a celebration of journeys, memories, and the passage of time.

Leonids: Through the Ages is free and available to all Agents through Dispatch in the Scanner. Complete Stage 1 to earn the Leonids: Through the Ages medal. Agents who continue into Stage 2 can collect up to 2,000 Cygnus Tokens across both Stages.

Available: November 5, 2026 at 18:00 UTC to November 30, 2026 at 18:00 UTC

Leonids: The Lion Awakens

Research Note

The Meetup Kinetic Program

As Earth moves through the Leonid stream, NIA researchers have detected a rise in XM activity linked to the meteors. Field analysts expect this energy to speed up the Kinetic Program used to forge a Meetup Beacon. Under normal conditions, the Kinetic Program requires 8 km of travel. While the Leonid signal remains strong, researchers predict it will require only 1 km.

The observation window runs from November 5, 2026 at 18:00 UTC to November 30, 2026 at 18:00 UTC, the same period as Leonids: Through the Ages. Agents planning to gather with others this month may wish to forge their Meetup Beacons during this window.

Cygnus Tokens

Agents can earn up to 2,000 Cygnus Tokens by completing Bounties and Assignments in Stages 1 and 2 of the Leonids: Through the Ages Campaign.

Cygnus Tokens count toward the three-tier Cygnus Season medal, which Agents claim through the Cygnus Rewards Campaign. The Leonids Campaigns do not award Season Points. For Token thresholds and the full Season schedule, see the Cygnus Anomaly Season Overview.
