Google Play recently announced that a faster, more reliable, and more private version of Google Play Integrity will become mandatory in May 2025, and that developers can opt into the new version now. Ingress uses the Play Integrity API to detect suspicious activity, like bots and cheaters, in our efforts to protect the Portal Network.
On Mon Feb 24, after the Tucson, US Anomaly has concluded, we will opt into the new Play Integrity API and in parallel update our device integrity verdicts to check specifically for basic device integrity and device attributes. This means Ingress will check that the app is running on a device that passes basic system integrity checks.
Our goals are to continue to protect the Portal Network while also enabling more Android devices used by legitimate Ingress Agents to access Ingress.
